Privileges of MBAHK membership
Members receive regular
mailings of all events and meetings organized by the Association and by other local biological societies.
Members may use the facilities of The Swire Institute of Marine Science for up to two
weeks each year without charge and consult the Association library at the Laboratory.
Members are entitled to a 25% discount on all marine biological titles published by
Hong Kong University Press, including Asian Marine Biology.
Members have access to the libraries of all tertiary institutions in Hong Kong and
receive a free copy of a catalogue of all ecological serial holdings of the institutions.
Registered higher degree students who are also Full Members of the Association can apply
for conference or research grants up to HK$3,000.

Categories of membership

Full Member* Open to individuals with a degree in marine biology or a related
subject. Subscription: HK$250 per annum (renewable October each year)

Associate Member* Open to persons interested in marine biology but who do not
hold a relevant degree. Subscription: HK$200 per annum (renewable October each year)

Student Member* Open to full-time undergraduate or postgraduate students reading for a degree
in marine biology or a related subject. Subscription: HK$50 per annum (renewable October each year)

Sustaining Member* Open to institutions or organizations interested in supporting
the activities of the MBAHK. Subscription: HK$1,500 per annum (renewable October each year)

Fellow Member* Open to Full Members who have made a distinguished contribution to marine biology in Hong Kong Elected Fellow Members can use the suffix FMBAHK

Honorary Member Persons with distinguished service to marine science in
Hong Kong may be elected by the Council to Honorary Membership

The Association has a current membership of over 50, with many overseas marine scientists.
